Menno Pioneer Heritage Association
The Menno Pioneer Heritage Association
was incorporated April 24th, 1995 at Menno, South
Dakota. It is governed by a seven member board of
directors. The Purpose for which the corporation was formed is to
create a living museum dedicated to the preservation of the cultural
and ethnic heritage found in southeastern South Dakota.
On July 14th 1995 the
Association purchased 30 acres +/- from Calvin and Carol Mettler. This
land is located adjacent to the north edge of Menno, South Dakota. The
address for the Menno Pioneer Heritage Association is 616 North 5th
Street, PO Box 452, Menno, South Dakota, 57045. In 1998 the name
“Pioneer Acres” was chosen as the official name for the site.
The MPHA has over 325 members. A lifetime
membership is available to any person or organization making a
contribution of $100.00 or more to the MPHA. Each member is entitled
to one vote. Members also receive a copy of the “Hayloft News”, which
is published periodically to keep the members up to date on the events
happening with the association.
